Report on the
Walking Tour
of old town Conroe.
that took place on
March 16, 2019. The group mustered at  the
Crighton Theater at
11: 00 am for a 45 minute slow pace tour.
Your Montgomery County Historical Commission Chairman, Mr. Larry Foerster, hosted a walking tour of old downtown Conroe on March 16, 2019. The tour began and ended at the Crighton theater.

A Brochure was passed out to attendees describing the strucures we stood in front of and a brief history of each.

As we walked the tour,  Larry showed pictures of many long time Conroe structures that are now gone.

While many buidlings are gone and all that remains is a picture, there are many still   existing. Standing in front of a building built more than 100 years ago and looking at it as it exists today is fascinating. It is a testament to the durability of construction materials, techniques and skills of master craftsmen from yesteryear.

The tour was part of an annual "Rising Stars and Legends" week long event that featured activities of many non profit organizations. The venue also provides an avenue for new and upcoming audio and visual artists to demonstrate their talents.

This 3rd annual event was produced by the Greater Conroe  Arts Alliance, of which the M.C. Historical Commission is a member and supporter of its activities.
